We are excited to have one of our 100hp Gnome engines being fitted to a locally based Sopwith Pup that will be displaying at Yealand Classic Fighters being held over Easter Weekend here at Omaka Airfield.
As part of this process we have taken the 80hp LeRhone Rotary engine off the airframe, and we will be taking the opportunity to have a good look over the engine and recondition it over the coming months. We will then run it on our test stand to see exactly what numbers it is producing.
Today we had our demo engine arrive back from the USA. We will give the engine a good look over and then fit it up to the Pup airframe over the coming weeks.
We can’t wait to see how the engine performs compared to the LeRhone.
We would like to thank Murray Miers of Chariots of Fire Fighter Collection for allowing us to re-engine his Sopwith Pup for the airshow.
